William Brovelli

Tug o war
This is an object (antique tramp art frame cir.1895) that has been cut in half. Brackets have been fastened to the back of both halves for reconnection. The collector and the artist each take possession of a half. A contract dictates who is awarded full ownership of both halves depending on who dies first. The survivor is the winner in this case.

Intermission
The collector may choose to suspend at any point in time the artists production (directly or indirectly) of any and all ideas, projects, or art works in any form whatsoever including but not limited to derivative works be it conceptual, visual, musical, performance based works and writing. After the collector and the artist sign the contract, the collector may then at any point decide both the beginning time and date of suspension of all further acts of creativity or production on the part of the artist for up to five years.

Territorial marking
This project is a reflection on the seemingly non- aggressive occupation of space and time. It consists of the fabrication of a series of 8"x 16"x 4” flat non- decorative granite grave markers (mile markers) with a designated number carved in the center of each stone. The markers will be placed in cemeteries throughout Mass. The first marker # 05RO 23 584 (728390) is installed in a cemetery plot in an undisclosed location.
Each marker will be sold individually and will remain in the cemetery until the death of the artist at which point the markers will be handed over to the owners. The graves will be left unmarked.

Exclusivities
Pt. 1:
Only one half of the object is displayed in a gallery setting. When the sale of the object is complete, the other half will be handed over to the collector.
Pt. 2:
The object consists of two sections. When the object is purchased, one section remains with the artist to be reworked.
